Description

Vétra: Authentic French Workwear since 1927.

Vétra has been manufacturing all its iconic garments in its own French factory since 1927, benefiting from its unique savoir-faire.

This heavy linen chore jacket is inspired by the original "Bleu de Travail" made by Vétra for French workers since the beginning. This style is 5cm shorter than style #4, adding a modern touch to the design.

In the past, linen was the primary fabric used in workwear as it was locally grown in Europe, particularly in Normandy, due to its adaptability to the climate. Cotton had to be imported and was later introduced as a cheaper alternative to linen. In 1927, Vétra started offering workers a mix of cotton and linen canvas (bisonne) as well as 100% heavy linen fabric jackets.

During that time, some mills specialized in producing blue and black fabrics, which were in high demand for dungarees. In the 1920s, these mills expanded their color range to include brown (catechu). Additionally, some mills provided Vétra with ecru (natural fabrics), while others bleached the fabrics to offer white garments.

Discover the authentic French workwear by Vétra, crafted with expertise for decades. Our heavy linen chore jacket combines style and durability, reflecting the heritage of the iconic "Bleu de Travail" with a modern twist.
